The Island is 43 kilometres in circumference, about 1400 hectares, and has 17 outstanding white sandy beaches, all safe for swimming; several with good coral and heaps of colourful fish just right for snorkelling. Ninety percent of the Island is bushland, with all businesses situated along Fisherman's Beach.

Great Keppel is the largest island of the Keppel Group, which consists of 14 islands offering excellent marine life and great spots for snorkelling and diving. Because of the central location of the Island, we enjoy a warm, sunny climate year-round.

The birdlife on the Island is varied from White-breasted Sea Eagles, Brahminy Kites, Ospreys to Pied Oystercatchers and Beach Curlews, to the Honeyeaters, Rainbow Bee-eaters, Pheasant Coucals, Friarbirds, and of, course, the lovely and very noisy Kookaburras and Rainbow Lorikeets! Brushtail Possums are quite numerous and the occasional Blue-tongue lizards and Goannas.

Quality accommodation for those watching their holiday budget. Available for singles, twins and triples, these rooms are a short walk from resort facilities. Choose a garden room to experience a tropical breakaway that won't break the budget!

Getting There
Getting to the island is easy. Qantas, Jetstar and Virgin Blue have scheduled services into Rockhampton Airport from all major ports (some via Brisbane).

From Rockhampton Airport, guests can fly to the Island’s own airstrip, a scenic trip over crystal blue waters which will see you checking-in just 30 minutes later.

Alternatively, guests can travel by coach from Rockhampton Airport to Rosslyn Bay near Yeppoon, a distance of 55 km, and embark on a high-speed launch for the 30 minute trip to the Island.

If you’re making the 696 kilometre journey by road from Brisbane, there’s secure lock-up parking at reasonable rates at the Rosslyn Bay Marina.

Day trippers are also welcome with regular launch services from Rosslyn Bay to the resort and return - and if you happen to be passing by in your own yacht, please drop in. We’d love to see you.

NB. If travelling to Great Keppel Island via light aircraft from Rockhampton Airport please pack luggage into soft bags and adhere to the maximum weight of 20k per passenger.
